Modern society and the media present the ideology that dreams are always achieved, and that there will be a simple one track path that will lead you to achieve your wildest dreams.

Unfortunately, once you remove the glimmer and dust of Hollywood, you’ll soon realise that this is not reality. But maybe there is a way to get everything you want, or at least live a life closer to your authentic self and what makes you happy. And what if that all started with your mindset?

The only person standing in the way of your dreams is you. To reference an (albeit cliche) quote - “nothing is impossible”.

Although this might sound like something you would see written on the wall of a hipster yoga studio, there is some truth in it. Everything physical, such as money or clients can be obtained through hard work. But to get to this stage, you need to shift your mindset, and in turn continue on the path to success. But once you’ve reached all your superficial goals then what?

Whether you’re going through a period of transition or have simply hit all your goals and feel empty inside. When self doubt hits and your motivation is at an all time low, yup we’ve all been there.

However, as weeks and months pass, and nothing changes, it is paramount to realise nothing is handed to you on a plate. You must go out and get it yourself. Think to yourself…

“What is it that I actually want in life?”

Think deep, explore all your layers of thought and write out what it is you not just want but desire. Human beings are simplistic in their nature - if they want something, they have all the tools and resources they need to achieve it.

If you really want to achieve your dreams, develop a mindset that gets you what you want. Below are some of the characteristics seen in successful people living healthy fulfilled lives.

“Fear will steal our freedom. for what we fear establishes the boundaries of our freedom. what we fear has mastery over our soul.

anxiety is how your sould processes fear. you cannot control circumstances but you can control your character”

  1. Courageous

  2. Patient

  3. Focused

  4. Positive

  5. Always willing to learn

But how do we build these characteristics in us? There seems to be common trends amongst all religions, spiritual practices and modern day entrepreneurs of which we should all be conscious adopting now.

  1. A Deep Gratitude

Even if you don’t believe in spirituality or religion. It’s been proven that to live a life in peace, without anxiety, worries or doubt is through meditation. To accept things and let go what is not meant for you. We are ungrateful as humans. The universe has given everything to us without even asking. We are such ungrateful creatures that we don’t even bother to look around what existence is continually doing for us.

The sun, the moon, the stars, the animals, the birds and the people. You are living in a tremendously beautiful dream. But you have to be awake to it. People have found this gratefulness through religion. You don’t have to be a Christian or a Hindu to be religious. All that you need is a deep gratitude towards existence.

You don’t even have to believe in God or heaven or hell. Just a deep felt gratitude that this existence would have been missing something without you. This vast existence needed you, no-one else.

“You have to grow from the inside out.
There is no other teacher but your own soul.”
    -Swami Vivekananda

  2. Change Your Language

Language is perhaps the most important determiner when it comes to the self. Instead of the voice in your mind saying “I should send that email”, or “I should go to this talk”, change it to “I will go”. Avoid uncertain phrases.

Once you have mastered this in your internal conversations, bring it to the outside world. Speak of your accomplishments, as opposed to your failures. There is no shame in being proud of oneself. This will encourage a mindset of certainty.

  3. Change Your Social Circle

Every individual in your social circle has a unique personality, and undoubtedly some component of this personality would have rubbed off onto yourself. However, it is important to recognise who is beneficial to your dreams, and who is holding you back.

Life’s too valuable to hang out with people who don’t get you. Who you just don’t vibe with. Who have different values and lower standards than you do. Who have different Mindsets, Heartsets, Healthsets and Soulsets. It’s actually a miracle how POWERFULLY and PROFOUNDLY our influences and environments shape our lives and futures.

  4. Get Out Your Comfort Zone

Our brains can be trained. If you stay in the same routine, yes it is safe, but your brain will become complacent, and will not push itself. Similar to your gym routine - you wouldn’t do the same workout everyday every month, right? No, because your muscles would become accustom to this and therefore not develop.

Your mind is the same. Push yourself into situations you originally would not envision yourself to be in. Train your brain to adapt to the environment it is in.

You already have the deepest desires to achieve your dream life, or else you wouldn’t be reading this article. If you’re feeling like you want more in life or something is missing spend the time working on the above. Your thoughts determine your belief systems and your actions.

In turn, this will determine the way you conduct yourself in life. By cultivating a thought process of success, transforming failure into a learning curve and really believing in yourself, there is no reason for you to not achieve all you desire.
